Two different methods will be used to calculate your grade, and you will receive the higher of the two grades.

Method 1                                                          Method 2

Aplia Homework Assignments: 20%                   Aplia Homework Assignments: 0%

Midterm (March 11): 30%                                   Midterm (March 11): 40%

Writing Assignment: 10%                                   Writing Assignment: 10%

Final (May 13 at 12:45): 40%                              Final (May 13 at 12:45): 50%

You must bring your CSUN Identification to all exams.

Exams:  No notes or calculators will be permitted.

The final exam is cumulative.   No "make-up" exams will be given.  All students must take the final exam.  If you are ill for a midterm, you must provide a verifiable excuse written by a doctor on her letterhead or prescription pad.  In this case, you will be excused from the midterm and the final exam will be assigned a larger weight to determine your grade.  If an acceptable excuse is not provided, you will receive a "0" on that midterm exam.  If there is some other reason why you must miss an exam, you must obtain permission before the exam, otherwise you will receive a "0."    Do not miss an exam thinking that you will be exempt from this rule.

Writing assignment:  Details concerning the assignment and due date will be given in class.  Late assignments will not be accepted for any reason.  You may discuss the assignment with other students, but each student must turn in their own individual answer.  Your answer cannot be copied from another student.

Straight letter grades will be given; no "+" or "-".

Students are expected to observe the student conduct code (see the CSUN catalog); any form of academic dishonesty will result in failure in the class and full prosecution by the University.  Students are also expected to respect the rights of other students to participate fully in the classroom learning environment, and therefore, are not to disrupt that environment.

Class attendance is not required.  In accordance with the policy above, if you choose to attend class, you agree that you will not leave the class early without prior permission of the instructor.

Textbook: Microeconomic Theory and Applications 10th Edition by Browning and Zupan.

We will cover Chapters 1-5, 7-15, 20.  Changes may be announced in class.
